SINGING – TĀRAVA TAHITI
THEME: THE LEGEND OF THE TWIN CORALS
In the area called TERUREA, in the sea, way before reaching the pass, there are our two corals. In old times, very long ago, things came to life at night. The story of the two “TO’A” goes as follows:
In Pueu, south of Rautea pass, just opposite Hélène Auffray school, stretches a long reef. When the weather is fine, the people of Pueu gets there to collect sea food: periwinkles, crabs, clams, crustaceans and so on…
This coral reef called ‘TO’A ROA” was the place of birth of our two twins.
One night, as the full moon was out, our two corals turned into human beings in order to go to a party, up north, in the area called TERUEA. They enjoyed themselves so much that they forgot that their human appearance was ephemeral.
When suddenly the sun took over the night and surprised our two heroes, they had forgotten they had to return as the first night star had gone off. They rushed through Urei Pass but alas, it was too late. They took a shortcut through To’a poto of Pahua, but there, they were surprised by the glare of XXX. They died and stayed there.
