THEME : THE CAVE TE ANA FÄRIU
This year and through its various traditional songs, the group Tamari’i Vaira’o decided to present to you, two of the historical places of Vaira’o: Vāvī and Te Ana Fāriu.
VāvĪ, the meeting place, Vāvī the river, Vāvī, the protective site of Māui’s emblems such as his drum or the stone used to tie the sun to slow down its course. But also, Vāvī where the Guardian of Vaira’o, the Mother of the birds of heaven, prospers forever: Te Ana Fāriu.
TE ANA FERRIU, refuge of the salanganes or swiftlets of society, benevolent mother, forgotten cave of the present generation.
Let your story spread so that you may be known and remembered.
Let us praise these forgotten places so that they will forever anchor themselves in the memory of the Mā’ohi people.
