PUPU TAMARII PAPARA OIRE – DANCE

THEME : THE MYTH OF PANIOLO.

Here is a legend that portrays the « tabu » love between two people of different ranks: Paniolo, a caring centipede during the day and a man serving the king at night, and Mirivai Princess of Papara (who had been betrothed to the Prince of Pä’ ea).

Although it was a forbidden love, the young lovebirds loved each other in secret, but not for long, for the kings of Papara and Pä’ea would discover it and put an end to it, demanding the death of the servant.

Paniolo, who did not fear death, reassured Princess Mirivai who had plunged into the deepest sadness and distress and promised to meet up with her in their secret garden at the sound of the Hä’ü and the Perepere.

Love, royalty, sadness, hope, and magic are the main underlying themes that depict this amazing and fascinating love story.
